Some 455 Valenzuelanos successfully positioned themselves for instant employment as hired on-the-spot applicants in a two-day Jobs Fair conducted last April 17-18, dubbed as “Sure WIN sa Trabaho: Mayor WIN Birthday Mega Jobs Fair 2012.

Close to 3,000 job seekers trooped together at the New City Government Complex grounds for an opportunity to grab suited employment from over 8,242 local and overseas vacancies from 88 participating companies..

Aside from the almost 500 individuals who are now gearing up for first day at work, some 2829 other job-seekers are getting ready for their scheduled further interview.

As the Philippines ranks among the countries inSoutheast Asia with highest unemployment rate as of 2011,Mayor WIN Gatchalian has been actively giving profound attention in providing employment to Valenzuelanos.  Jobs Fair is consistently included among of the major activities for the celebration of his birthday annually.  The event is also timely as many have recently graduated from college and are apt for employment.

“Companies need workers and the people need jobs, it is a matter of appropriately matching the skills and qualifications of the applicants with the requirements of the employers and Jobs Fairs, like the ones we organize, provide the strategic rendezvous between the two,” Mayor WIN said.

Mayor WIN through Public Service Employment Office (PESO) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) -NCR also initiated the Skills Registry System (SRS) that started to operate last month, aiming to establish and maintain a repository of the national manpower information, by which job opportunities shall be cascaded down to the registrants when demands arise and become available.

“Employment is empowerment,” Mayor WIN added, “it does not only improve the living condition of one’s family but reduce the underlying social glitches of poverty in country as a whole, such as crimes and unattended medical conditions.

Valenzuela City Jobs Fairs offer a One-Stop Shop Pre-employment Services, such as, Social Security Service (SSS), Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth, National Statistics Office (NSO) and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) to hasten the processing of the documentary requirements of job-seekers.  “That is why, there is no reason for our constituents not to grab the opportunity to participate in the four other Mega Jobs Fairs we are scheduled to conduct this year,” Mayor WIN ended.
