Valenzuela City’s celebration of the annual Bible Week culminated with a Bible reflection anchored on the theme “Proclaiming God's Word Towards National Transformation” which was facilitated by the Valenzuela Pastoral Network (VPN) during the City Government employees’ flag-raising ceremony today.

VPN Secretary, Pastor Alan Numbrado, who led the reflection emphasized the ”transforming value“ of the Bible through ”four marked evidences” he calls the ”SALN,” which stands for  ”Standards of Admonition, Love and Nourishment.”

Present during the said event were members of three city-based pastoral organizations: the VPN, the Valenzuela City Ministerial Association for Social Concern (VCMASCON), and the Ministers for Valenzuela Progress (MVP), led by their respective chairpersons, Pastors Joseph Llorando of the VPN, and Jun Vistan of the VCMASCON. MVP Chairman Pastor Rene Sebastian was not present in the event due to undisclosed reasons.

Preluding the morning Bible reflection were several activities which started last January 23, which include a luncheon fellowship, a motorcade, as well as, a mass distribution of Bibles.  It is part of the nationwide celebration of the National Bible Week organized by the Philippine Bible Society.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod, through City Ordinance No. 025, Series of 2005, declared the celebration of the Valenzuela City Bible Week every last week of January.  This is in adherence to three presidential decrees signed, respectively, by Presidents Corazon C. Aquino, Fidel V. Ramos and Ferdinand E. Marcos, recognizing the ”importance of reading and studying the Bible in molding the spiritual, moral, and social fiber of our country.”
