Christmas carols, dancing fountains, and sparkling fireworks graced the Valenzuela City People’s Park as the City Government of Valenzuela led by Mayor WES Gatchalian lit the 2022 “Tuloy ang Progreso” Tree of Hope, in dedication of 8,000 hardworking city hall employees, December 1.

The 50-foot Christmas tree stands at the park’s aero circle and is fully geared with sparkling lights, with an additional 10-foot bear ornaments around it, and ball of light illuminating all areas of the park.

Since 2004, the Tree of Hope Lighting Ceremony has been a tradition for the city, dedicating its theme to different sectors annually but was halted in 2020 due to the onset of COVID-19 pandemic. It is regularly done late November or early December to formally welcome the yuletide season in the city. This year, with recovery being felt from the pandemic and restrictions easing up, the Tree is dedicated to more than 8,000 hardworking employees of the city hall, as they cope up with the challenges brought about by the pandemic for more than two years now.

The city government’s Christmas Party was also held during the event. Several employees who served the city government for ten to forty years were recognized and awarded with a certificate and cash incentive. A raffle with cash and appliance prizes were also held during the party.

[We are dedicating this tree lighting ceremony to all our hardworking city hall employees. Some of you are already serving the city for ten, fifteen, twenty, or thirty years. I am very happy that several of you continued to support our new administration, so even though the past two Christmas had been gloomy, this year, we’re going to bring back the sparkle and joy here in the city of Valenzuela.]

The Christmas decors in Valenzuela City Family Park, Fatima Avenue, Polo Park, and WES Arena were also simultaneously lit during the event. The Christmas Bazaar and Food Fiesta along CJ Santos Street across the park and Fatima Avenue was also opened on the same day, and will be open during the whole Christmas season.

Joining Mayor WES, Mayoress Tiffany, Liam, and Tara in gracing the tree lighting ceremony were Congressman REX Gatchalian, Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja, Councilors Marlon Alejandrino, Ramon Encarnacion, Ricar Enriquez, Cris Feliciano, Ghogo Deato Lee, Atty. Bimbo Dela Cruz, Gerald Galang, Niña Lopez, Sel Sabino-Sy, Louie Nolasco, Mickey Pineda, Chiqui Carreon, Liga ng mga Barangay President Councilor Jonjon Bartolome, and SK Federation President Councilor Goyong Serrano.
