Valenzuela City’s Education 360 Degrees Investment Program goes beyond the traditional distribution of school supplies as the local government makes sure that Valenzuelano students are geared with tablets for their online classes – with Mayor REX Gatchalian leading the distribution of 24,000 tablets to public elementary and high school students in the City.

“After going through a strict and stringent procurement process, as well as importation process, this week, we will release 24,000 smartphones to our students in our public schools who stated that they do not have any handheld device during enrollment,” Mayor REX said during the distribution today, January 05.

Parents and guardians of public elementary and high school students who have no gadgets for online classes will receive their own tablets starting from January 05 to January 09 in designated public schools in Valenzuela City.

Based on the enrollment declaration by the Department of Education (DepEd) Valenzuela last year, it was found that 24,000 out of 130,000 public elementary and high school learners in Valenzuela City do not have a smartphone or a gadget to be used for online classes.

The Department of Education (DepEd) Valenzuela, on its verification process, was also able to also find out that the student beneficiaries have no capacity to purchase their own smartphones in preparation for the online class which started last October 2020. With conviction, Mayor REX allocated PhP 69 million for the procurement of the said tablets.

The distributed tablets can be used for watching lessons in the City’s very own Valenzuela LIVE Online Streaming School, as well as catching up with their lessons and watching educational videos.

The City Government of Valenzuela and DepEd Valenzuela also reminds its beloved Batang Valenzuelanos to take care and value the tablets just as the local government values their education – stating that the tablets should be used for the specified purpose of participating in online and follow-up discussions only and to also make sure that the gadget should be secured safely.

Making sure that no student is left behind in quality education as part of its Education 360 Degrees Investment Program, the City granted the needs of Valenzuelano students – helping pave way for students to learn better at their own homes, and in the safety of being with their families.
