Christmas has just become merrier for some Valenzuelano families as they are among the beneficiaries of Mega Global Corporation’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) project that aims to feed 100,000 families all over the country by the end of 2020.

Under this project, Filipino families who were hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic will be gifted with Mega Sardines products.

What makes these gifts more special is that they came straight from the 5.905-meter (or 19 feet and 4.5 inches) tower recently recognized by the Guinness World Records as the Tallest Can (Tin) Structure. The new World Record for the Philippines was verified and declared last December 2.

Erected by the Mega Global Corporation, the Christmas tree-shaped tower is set up on Mega Global Distribution Center in Barangay Viente Reales, Valenzuela City. It is made up of a mix of 70,638 red and green Mega Sardines can variants.

Putting up the Mega Christmas tree began on November 18 and was finished just in time for the National Sardines Day on November 24.

Mayor REX Gatchalian commended Mega Global Corporation for their generosity and compassion for our kababayans in need. Proud ang Valenzuela City sa Mega Sardines at mas proud kami na maging partner ng Mega Sardines, para makatulong sa ating mga kapwa Valenzuelano,” he adds.

The sardine products are scheduled to be turned over to the City Government on December 20, 2020.

A worthwhile project

The food giving initiative dubbed as “Mega Bigay Sustansya sa Pasko”, was launched during the celebration of the National Sardines Day last November. Mega Global Corporation had originally intended to provide hot meals to families affected by the COVID outbreak, but has had to change plans and realign their intent to include the families stricken by the recent typhoons in the feeding.
