Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) named Valenzuela City as local government unit (LGU) with the highest Real Property Tax (RPT) collection efficiency in the National Capital Region (NCR) for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2016.

The City surpassed the 2016 BLGF Collection Target of Php 775,132,398.11 by 59% with a total collection of Php 1,232,813,058.38.

Furthermore, Valenzuela City was gauged 2nd among 17 LGUs in the NCR in timeliness and in completeness of submission of the Quarterly Report on Real Property Assessment (QRRPA) for the same fiscal year.

Likewise, the City earned the second spot for Local Revenue Collection Efficiency after exceeding the 2016 BLGF Collection Target for Local Revenues of Php 1,927,058,126.04, scoring a 123% efficiency or 23% greater at Php 2,425,770,779.68.

The awards aim to continuously drive LGUs, through the City Treasurer’s Office and the City Assessor’s Office, to sustain local revenue generation and to maintain a sound and reliable system in property valuation and assessment for improved revenue generation efforts towards better local governance and efficient public service.

Mayor REX Gatchalian believes that the recognition is an affirmation that the intensified attempts to identify and to charge shortchange in tax payments are effective.  Also, he said, it is an evidence that Valenzuelanos are inspired to pay the right taxes because they see very well where their taxes go.

The official certificates of citation were given today, December 19, at a ceremony held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.
