Sabado Morning Fitness Club Clebrates 4th Year Anniversary
The Sabado Morning Fitness Club celebrated its much awaited 4th Year Anniversary last March 15 at its birthplace, the Museo Valenzuela located at Fatima Ave., Marulas, Valenzuela City through a special Saturday morning aerobics session.
On March 13, 2004 Fil. V. De Guzman, President of Samahang Magkakapitbahay ng Fatima (SMF) Homeowners’ Association., Inc., organized the first aerobics session of Sabado Morning Fitness Club with 32 registered participants led by Rex Acuña. Since then, fitness program of the association for the residents of Valenzuela City particularly those living within the vicinity of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima gained the reputation for being the biggest and longest-running aerobics club in the city. To date, with its present Aerobics Guru, Nestor G. Alegre, it already recorded 256 registered members and had marked its 562nd session.
Other than the regular Saturday aerobics sessions, the club has been actively inviting speakers to conduct seminars on different areas like health, parenting, livelihood, environment, proper waste disposal, fire prevention and peace and order. Gift-giving to underprivileged children, Summer Aqua Sports and Unity Walk 4 Fitness are regular annual activities.
And on September 2007, the club, headed by Fil V. De Guzman, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Valenzuela City Federation of Homeowners and Neighborhood Association Inc. (VCFHNAI), launched the “Valenzuela City – The Aerobics Capital of the Philippines” Advocacy Campaign as part of its “Proud to be a Valenzuelano” Cruzade.
Mr. De Guzman believes that a healthy citizenry is a wealth for the City of Valenzuela. “We’re now in the process of organizing the Aerobics League of Valenzuela City to attain the realization of the advocacy campaign,” he announced proudly.
