"Valenzuela City to Purchase Ambulances for the Barangays"
In a meeting with the City Development Council, Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian has given the go signal for the purchase of 27 units of ambulance for the used of different barangays in Valenzuela. This move is part of the campaign to enhance and develop the healthcare services delivered by the City Government to the Valenzuelanos
According to Mayor Gatchalian, “Through this project we are able to make our healthcare services more mobile and more responsive to emergency situations in order for us save as many lives as we can.”
Each of the ambulance costs around Php 1.2 Million or a total of PhP 32.4 Million for all thirty-two. The budget used to purchase the said ambulances is mainly from the funds of the City Development Council.
Each ambulance is fully-equipped with modern life support equipments. Among these are one oxygen tank with gauge, portable BP apparatus, automatic stretcher, suction apparatus, nebulizer, and medical supplies.
“We don’t want to provide mere service. The City Government wants to make sure that it delivers accessible and high quality service to Valenzuelanos. That is the reason why we made sure that these ambulances have been completely installed with the necessary equipments,” Mayor Gatchalian explains.
In the last CDC meeting, the council had resolved that the said ambulance will be made available and distributed to the 32 barangays of Valenzuela City on February 2008. Barangays with large areas and bigger population will have one ambulance for each, while barangays with smaller area and lesser population will have to share ambulance.
Brgy. Chairman John Arenas said, “We are really happy about this new development. Mayor Win has done it again. This only shows that our Mayor cares for the well-being of his constituents.”
He further stated, “Indeed, Valenzuela is on its way of becoming a greater and more progressive hub of commerce and industry in the North of NCR.”
Mayor Gatchalian said that this step is just the beginning of the plans that his administration has for the enhancement of the healthcare services provided by the City Government to Valenzuelanos. He also stated that more health infrastructures will be renovated built or improved this 2008.
Dr. Antonio Olegario, head of Cith Health Office, said, “Indeed, Mayor Win has ensured that Valenzuelanos will get the all best of the health services delivered by the City Government. We appreciate him and laud him for his great efforts.”
