Peace in Valenzuela City Barangays Feted Through Annual Lupong Tagapamayapa Awards

The City Government of Valenzuela hails Barangay Bignay as 2017 Most Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa in a ceremony held at the Valenzuela City Center for the Performing Arts Auditorium, November 6. The award was given to Barangay Bignay due to its dedication in fulfilling and implementing goals of Katarungang Pambarangay (KP). It also proved its effectiveness in settling disputes in its area.

All efforts of Barangay Bignay in maintaining peace and order in their community have paid off as its Lupong Tagapamayapa has been recognized as 2017 Most Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa in Valenzuela City during the 2017 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) Awarding Ceremony. 

Held at the Valenzuela City Center for the Performing Arts Auditorium (VCCPA), November 6, as part of the 394th Valenzuela City Foundation Day celebration, Lupong Tagapamayapa of Barangay Bignay received the award due to its dedication in fulfilling and implementing the goals of Katarungang Pambarangay (KP). It also proved its effectiveness in settling disputes in its area. 

According to Mr. Policarpio G. Diaz, president of the Lupong Tagapamayapa of Barangay Bignay, their group has innovations in reconciling parties and advocating peace among their residents. 

[Dahil] ang hinahangad namin ay mapanatili ang Bignay na isang mapayapang lugar na nagmamahalan at nagkakasundo ang bawat mamamayan upang ang Bignay ay maging maunlad. ([Because] we aim to maintain peace, love and camaraderie among the residents of Barangay Bignay for it to be progressive.)” he shared. 

Aside from Bignay, Lupons of barangays Mapulang Lupa, Lawang Bato, Canumay East and Karuhatan made-up the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th runners-up respectively. 

Valenzuela City Mayor REX Gatchalian expressed his gratitude to the city’s Lupong Tagapamayapa for their contribution and sacrifices in serving the community. 

Dahil sa Lupong Tagapamayapa natin ay nababawasan ang workload [cases] ng ating mga korte at napapabilis ang pag-dispense ng hustisya sa ating mga barangay. (Due to the Lupong Tagapamayapa, the cases handled by the courts are trimmed down and justice is being served fast in the barangays),” Mayor REX said. 

The winners received certificates, trophies, and cash rewards worth Php 30,000 for the grand winner; Php 20,000 for the 1st runner-up; Php 10,000 for the 2nd runner-up and Php 5,000 for the 3rd and 4th runners-up. 

Meanwhile, Lupong Tagapamayapa from barangays Maysan, Parada, Pulo, Canumay West, Paso de Blas, Marulas, Punturin and Gen. T. de Leon were given certificates of appreciation for joining the search. 

Lupong Tagapamayapa is a group composing of the Punong Barangay, who will act as the chairperson, and not less than 10 but not more than 20 members from the community. The Lupon is tasked to settle arguments among parties in a peaceful and efficient manner. 

The Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards is an annual search which was created to give recognitions to the exemplary performances and contributions of the Lupong Tagapamayapa in resolving different arguments in the community.
