A total of 125 applicants went home with luck as they were hired on-the-spot during Valenzuela City’s two-day Mega Jobs Fair held last February 14 to 15 at the New City Government Complex grounds in celebration of the city’s 14th Charter Day Anniversary with the theme “14 na Regalo Para sa 14 na Taon ng Maunlad na Lungsod ng Valenzuela.”

A throng of more than 2,000 job-seekers applied at more than 9,000 local and overseas placements, a total 788 applicants of which were provided with new jobs and 125 went home lucky as they were hired on-the-spot

Valenzuela City’s Public Service Employment Office (PESO) partnered with Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Philippine Overseas and Employment Agency (POEA) in set out 106 local and overseas partner companies and agencies to offer positions available for Valenzuelanos.

PESO Manager Ms. Luningning Martin was overwhelmed of the results. “We will joyfully continue the responsive commitment that Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian started to address the employment needs of Valenzuelanos,” she said.

To help the applicants in the employment process, a One-Stop Shop of pre-employment services were made available, such as, Social Security Service (SSS), Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth and NBI Clearance. 

Jose Estorte, 33, of Barangay Gen. T. De Leon shared in Filipino, “Looking for a job in different companies is time and financially-consuming. I am very glad that our city organizes Job Fairs that really helps us to save time and money since most of the top companies are all here at the same time.”  

A listof partner companies includes: SM Department Store, SM Hypermarket, SM Appliance Center, Ace Hardware, ABS-CBN Star Cinema, Rustans Marketing Specialist, Inc., CDO Foodsphere, Splash Corporation, Watson’s Personal Care Store Phils., Inc., Temps and Staffers, Inc., Mang Inasal Philippines, Inc., Asiawide Refreshment Corporation, Bioessence Skin & Slimming Spa, Max’s Restaurant, Our Lady of Fatima University, Pamana Transport Services Inc., San Miguel Brewery, Synergy Sales International Corp., Lins Magiclean Corp., Advantage Manpower Services, Bestank Corp., Better Business Corp., CBC Corporation-Melawares, Ferrotech Steel Corporation, St. Peter Group of Companies, Starwood Manufacturing Company, Wellmade Mfg. Corporation, Wilcon, Inc., Crayons Processing, Inc., Kooler Philippine Amusement, Suburbia Motors, Tiger Machinery & Industrial Corporation, Job Solutions Phil., Inc., and Yosiko Industries, Inc.

PESO also reported that, aside from numerous small jobs fairs, five more Mega Jobs Fairs will be held in the city for the entire year of 2012.
