Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital’s excellent services thrust notches higher with the formal opening of the Dialysis Center to signal the readiness of the City Health Office (CHO) in providing affordable quality care and treatment for people with renal failure.

Patients Teresita de Zafra, 63, of Barangay Maysan and Romeo Acol, 68, of Barangay Marulas were comfortably having their hemodialysis when City Mayor Sherwin T. Gatchalian arrived at the hospital to ensure that the first operative day of the dialysis center will run efficiently.

The senior patients were impressed of the modern equipment therein, citing in Filipino that the facilities are high-end.  “Maayos ang serbisyo nila sa amin.  (We received warm service here)” he said.

The fully air-conditioned Dialysis Center houses five state-of-the-art dialysis machines, which patients may comfortably use for their long hours of treatment. Majority of the patients are senior citizens who used to have their hemodialysis from other private hospitals in adjacent cities.  The City Government also hired a nephrologist.

Patients who are residents of Valenzuela City are privileged to avail of up to 50% discount on hemodialysis which is PhP 3,750 for non-Valenzuela City residents.  Indigent VC Cares Cards holders can avail of the treatment for only PhP 1,275.  Furthermore, Philhealth members enjoy the services virtually free.

Aside from the dialysis room, Mayor WIN also checked the blood bank, the outpatient department (OPD), and other key service areas of the hospital. It is important for the chief executive to personally check the actual condition of the place because he believes that, “good health governance should always be one of the key priorities of any local government unit because a healthy community is an indicator of a wealthy economy.”

City Health Officer, Dr. Jaime M. Exconde Jr., Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital Officer-in-Charge, Dr. Rolando B. Tecson, Head Nurse Gloria R. Hortelano, Medical Professional Services Head, Dr. Ernesto B. Guevarra, Administrative Services Head, Dr. Mark Rey Matias, and Building Administrator, Engr. William P. Elefante, who all comprise the management team of the hospital, convened to join and assist the chief executive on this site visit.

For inquiries on how to avail of the services of the Dialysis Center, contact the Dialysis Team at 352-6000 local 6048 and look for Dr. Priscilla Fortuna, IM.
