Bikers have conquered the streets of Valenzuela City as they have commemorated the life and sufferings of Jesus Christ during the 5th Bisikleta Iglesia, March 29.

The 53-kilometer Bisikleta Iglesia was participated by more or less 700 individuals wherein they visited 14 stations including the Valenzuela City Police Station and different churches in the city.

According to PSSUPT Rolando R Mendoza, Valenzuela City chief of police, Bisikleta Iglesia is the way of local police in observing the Lenten Season.

We simply modified the Bisita Iglesia to be unique and we synchronized the activity with the policemen’s duty of monitoring the community so that they could visit the churches while doing their job),” PSSUPT Mendoza said.

We went to different churches. We also had bible readings so we could have an idea on the hardships of Jesus Christ and how we could relate on His sufferings for us to become good Christians),” he elaborated.

Meanwhile, Mr. Isagani Jacinto, 37 years old, from Barangay Paso de Blas shared his experience in this year’s Bisikleta Iglesia.

Masaya, kasi kahit papaano, alay rin sa Panginoon ‘yung ginawa naming sakripisyo (We felt happy because we offered our sacrifices to the Almighty Father),” he said.

Valenzuela City Bisikleta Iglesia started on 2013 wherein individuals, groups of local bikers, and force multipliers are encouraged to participate. It is done in observance of the Lenten Season, a period of repentance, devotion, and reflection on Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection.
